The Boys
History
Shoot The Rooster was formed during late 1999 shortly after Alan and Mark met. Both had much experience as working musicians and decided initially to perform music from the 60s and 70s as well as country music. However, bookings from the Country music scene (and in particular Line and Western dance clubs) increased dramatically after performances at the Norfolk Country Music Festival and Strumpshaw Country Music Festival during the summer of 2000. It was decided therefore to concentrate exclusively on Country and Line dance music from that point. Shoot the Rooster now travel around the country and are known for a superb evenings entertainment.
During late 2004 it was decided that a new "sound" was required by bringing in another musician and becoming a trio. After much thought, questioning audience members, promoters and others within the music business it was felt that a drummer would enhance the band with more of a "live" feel. Geoff Charlton joined Shoot the Rooster on drums in February 2005.
